  Marie Pollard, a 62-year-old retired nurse from Castlegar, Co Galway, was struck by a motorcyclist while on foot at the junction of Eden Quay and Beresford Place in Dublin 1 on 9 November 2022 and died two days later at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital from a traumatic head injury. The motorcyclist was uninjured and Gardaí at Store Street appealed for witnesses and dash-cam footage from the scene. The DPP initially decided not to prosecute, but following a successful appeal by the victim's family and a review, criminal proceedings were instituted and the inquest was adjourned. The motorcyclist is listed for trial in July 2026.
