Makula was arrested the following month and pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting one of the girls, while Peci was charged with sexual assault and false imprisonment of the second girl and convicted at the Central Criminal Court. On 9 March 2025 at about 2.20am, gardaí observed Marian Peci, a Slovakian man, in the driver's seat of a vehicle at Tesco in Longford. Gardaí said he released the handbrake, causing the vehicle to roll back, and noted keys in the ignition, slurred speech and a strong smell of intoxicating liquor, after which he was arrested and taken to Longford Garda Station. He later failed to provide a urine sample, and a community service assessment requested in August could not proceed because he could not complete the work. He pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to being drunk in charge of a vehicle and refusing to give a urine sample, and was sentenced to five months in jail and a six-year driving ban, as reported on 13 December 2025.
