latest first- Woman arrested over €431,000 cannabis seizure in Clane, Co Kildare Drug trafficking (cannabis) · Co. Kildare
Gardaí seized cannabis with an estimated value of between €421,000 and €500,000 from a locked closet in a woman's bedroom at a house in Clane, Co Kildare, in early January 2024. Marian Cash, 37, was arrested at her home in Clane and charged with possession of the drug for the purpose of sale or supply. On 6 January 2024 she appeared before a special sitting of Naas District Court, where gardaí objected to bail and Judge Desmond Zaidan refused it despite a €3,000 family offer, remanding her in custody until 8 January. Her solicitor said she was effectively a mule storing the drug for further distribution, and the court heard she had admitted holding the drugs for an alleged payment of €1,500; no sentence has been reported.
