    On July 8th 2023, a woman with 324 previous convictions shoplifted €75 worth of goods from a Mr Price store on Rampart Road in Dundalk, County Louth. CCTV images of the incident were circulated and the thief was identified as Margaret McDonagh, with an address in Sheriff Street, Dublin. At Dundalk District Court in the week before 21 February 2024, she was sentenced to four months, with €200 cash recognizance fixed in the event of an appeal being lodged. The defence said she had been homeless since 18 and had developed a drug addiction, and the judge noted her most recent conviction was for a theft committed five days before her court appearance.
