    Eoin O'Connor, 32, and Anthony Keegan, 33, were shot dead at an unknown location in the State between 22 April and 26 May 2014, and their bodies were later found bound and buried on Inchicup Island, Lough Sheelin. Irish woman Ruth Lawrence, 42, was arrested in Bloemfontein, South Africa, in October 2022 on an international warrant and extradited to Ireland in May 2023, where she was charged with two counts of murder. A Central Criminal Court jury found her guilty of both murders by majority verdicts on 12 November 2025, finding she shot O'Connor and worked as a unit with her then-boyfriend Neville van der Westhuizen, who shot Keegan. On 8 December 2025, Mr Justice Tony Hunt sentenced Lawrence to two concurrent life sentences, backdated to 4 October 2022.
