On 5 October 2021, Gardaí were called to Longford Train Station just before midnight to find 54-year-old woman Margaret Doran, a homeless mother of 12, lying asleep in front of a bus, preventing it from departing. Ms Doran became abusive during the exchange with officers and was arrested for her own safety. She pleaded guilty to two public order charges at Longford District Court, with a further Section 4 charge of being intoxicated in a public place taken into consideration. Judge Brennan issued a two-month prison sentence for the Section 6 charge of threatening and abusive behaviour, suspended for 18 months.
