Marcus Cullen, a man from Ballyshannon, Donegal, pleaded guilty to social welfare fraud offences before Ballyshannon District Court on 19 September 2022. He was working in a restaurant in Bundoran in January 2019 but failed to notify a change of circumstances and made false statements to receive benefits on 6 February and 6 March 2019, collecting €1,069.20 in payments that remain outstanding. This is his second social welfare fraud offence; he had previously served 240 hours community service in lieu of 12 months in prison for a 2015 offence.
