Manus Cannon, a 42-year-old man from Moneymore, Drogheda, Co Louth, was stopped by Gardaí at 3.06pm on 27 August 2023 at Magheraboy outside Letterkenny, Co Donegal, for traveling at 130kph in a 100kph zone. He was overtaking a number of caravans on a downhill stretch of the dual carriageway. He was issued a fixed penalty notice that was never paid, and the matter was subsequently heard at Letterkenny District Court before Judge Eiteain Cunningham. His solicitor, Ms Alison Parke, told the court he had no previous convictions and posed no risk to others. He was fined €320, the same amount as the original notice.
