Manideep Gopu, 25, originally from Pakistan, pleaded guilty at Kilkenny District Court to three charges of money laundering and one charge of making gain or causing loss by deception. The offences, which took place on April 1 and 8, 2021, involved three people who transferred a total of €1,600 for electronics advertised on Facebook that were never delivered. Gopu, who had no previous convictions, had been working for an independent electronics store in Limerick that had not operated for two years. Judge Geraldine Carthy adjourned the matter to December 13, 2022, to allow a Probation Report to be prepared.
