    On the evening of 4 November 2021, Gardaí from the Cork Divisional Drugs Unit and Gurranabraher District Drugs Unit stopped and searched a taxi on the M8 at Glanmire, Co Cork, as part of Operation Tara, recovering two packages of suspected cocaine worth €140,000. The two occupants, men Shabakiyu Sanusi, 58, and Malewis Gwei, 36, were arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Mayfield Garda Station. On 7 November 2021, both men appeared before a special sitting of Cork District Court where they were charged with possession of cocaine and for sale or supply, and Gwei was additionally charged with possession of cannabis herb and for sale or supply at two locations in Athlone. Judge Marian O'Leary remanded both on their own bonds with conditions including daily sign-on at Athlone Garda Station, passport surrender, and exclusion from Co Cork, with a next appearance set for 12 January 2022.
