  A report was received by gardaí of a highly intoxicated man causing a disturbance at the Carnbeg Hotel, Armagh Road, Dundalk, shortly before 3am on 17 November 2024. Mahmoud Hamam, a 27-year-old Jordanian national, was charged with public order offences after gardaí said he approached them in a threatening and aggressive manner, and a charge of assault was withdrawn. In the week before 31 July 2025, Judge Nicola Andrews at Dundalk District Court gave him the opportunity to avoid a conviction by paying €300 to the court community fund. The case was adjourned to 15 October 2025 for that payment, which is the latest development reported.
