  Lupascu Pisicia, a 60-year-old Romanian man of Fairgreen Hostel, Galway, was convicted at Kilkenny District Court of assault and public drunkenness after spitting at a garda at the Emergency Department of St Luke's Hospital on 30 November 2025. The defendant, who had been discharged from the hospital and was refusing to leave while highly intoxicated, was arrested by gardaí and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station. He admitted both offences before Judge Geraldine Carthy, who noted he had three previous convictions. A two-month sentence was suspended on condition of good behaviour and not re-offending.
