latest first- Covid lockdown barbecue host's case sent to High Court on legal questions Breach of Covid-19 regulations · Co. Tipperary
On April 25th, 2020, about 20 people attended an open-air barbecue party at Luke Kinnane's yard in Lacken, Kilshane, Co Tipperary, during the Covid-19 lockdown. Mr Kinnane, a man whose age and nationality are not given, is accused of breaching the Covid-19 regulations by holding the party, and he denied the charge before the District Court. The District judge referred a number of legal questions to the High Court before proceeding further with the hearing. On July 19th, 2023, the High Court ruled that the District judge has power to amend the charge sheet, which was found to lack sufficient detail, and that whether to use that power is for the District judge to decide.
