latest first- Dundalk auctioneer convicted of drink driving Drink driving · Co. Louth
On 17 February 2019, Lorcan Kirk, a 56-year-old auctioneer from Dundalk, collided with a BMW waiting in a McDonald's drive-thru queue before continuing into the Tesco Extra car park. He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and failed a breath test at Dundalk Garda Station. At a contested hearing in January 2022, Judge Eirinn McKiernan rejected Kirk's arguments that the Tesco car park was private property and that the breath-test procedure was flawed, and convicted him. Kirk was fined €300 and disqualified for three years, with the disqualification postponed for six months.
