  On August 30, 2024, Patricia McBrearty, a woman in her early 80s, was killed when a vehicle was driven without due care and attention on Church Street, St Johnston, Donegal. Livinus Dillon, a 55-year-old man from Carrigans, was charged with careless driving causing death under section 52 of the Road Traffic Act 1961. Dillon pleaded guilty at Letterkenny Circuit Court in October 2025. Judge John Aylmer adjourned sentencing to the February 2026 sitting for a probation and welfare report and a psychiatric report.
