Linda Finnegan, a 51-year-old woman of Stamullen, Co Meath, admitted defrauding Waldorf Barbers on Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2, of more than €35,000 in March 2019, including €29,000 that Bank of Ireland transferred to her. Gardaí arrested her by appointment after CCTV footage showed her making the withdrawals, and on 27 March 2019 she pleaded guilty to fraud under the Companies Act, having initially denied three theft charges. The company went into liquidation as a result of the fraud. At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 8 November 2023, Judge Orla Crowe set a headline sentence of two and a half years, reduced it to one year and nine months, and suspended it in full, and Finnegan has made €14,900 available to the company's liquidator.
