  Linda Costello (née Flood), a 54-year-old woman, was allegedly assaulted at The Tower apartment block in Graiguecullen, Co Carlow, on 26 March 2026. She was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where she died on Friday 10 April 2026. A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene, detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, interviewed and released without charge. As of 15 April 2026, a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and gardaí said their investigation was ongoing.
