On 3 February 2021, Liam Vickers, a 24-year-old man, pushed a 21-year-old woman against park railings and sexually assaulted her in Dublin. He was identified through CCTV footage and a statement from a woman who picked him up in her car after the attack, and pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where he was sentenced to three years in prison consecutive to a reactivated two-year suspended sentence. Separately, a 16-year-old Dublin schoolboy was given six months' detention at Dublin Children's Court for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy with a hairbrush handle in a park in June 2020. He appealed within minutes of sentencing and was released, while his 15-year-old co-defendant's sentencing was adjourned after he agreed to a treatment programme.
