On 13 January 2025, an eight-person brawl broke out at Hyde Avenue, Limerick city, at about 3pm, spilling from the pavement onto the road and blocking traffic. Demi Higgins, 27, and Lee Higgins, 20, siblings with no previous convictions, were among those involved; Ms Higgins struck at least two people with a large hammer while Mr Higgins was seen violently assaulting a man. The incident required 11 patrol cars to break up and the State said it arose in the context of a violent feud in the south side of the city. The siblings pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Court in June 2026 and were sentenced on 13 June 2026 to 18 months' and two years' imprisonment respectively.

On the afternoon of January 30, 2025, a street fight involving at least eight people erupted on Hyde Road, Limerick, which the judge described as part of an ongoing feud. Demi Higgins, 26, and her brother Lee Higgins, 20, both Irish and of Crecora Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick, were among those involved; CCTV showed Demi retrieving an industrial hammer from her car and using it in the fight. Both pleaded guilty to violent disorder, and Demi also pleaded guilty to producing a hammer. At Limerick Circuit Criminal Court, the judge reduced Demi's sentence to 18 months.
