David 'Daithí' Douglas, a man aged 55, was shot six times on July 1, 2016, while on a meal break at his partner's shoe shop at Shoestown, Bridgefoot Street, Dublin 1. Lee Canavan, a man aged 36, pleaded not guilty to the murder and was found guilty by the Special Criminal Court in May 2021. He was jailed for life on June 3, 2021, and was the fourth man to be jailed in relation to the killing. Canavan has since appealed his conviction before the Court of Criminal Appeal, arguing the court erred in convicting him on joint enterprise, and the court reserved its judgment.
