On 30 March 2025, at about 3.20am, Lawrence Mubango, a 36-year-old man of no fixed abode, entered a hotel room occupied by two elderly women at the Imperial Hotel, Rampart Lane, Dundalk, County Louth, and stayed about 20 minutes, taking clothing, a purse and €500. He was charged with burglary, and at an earlier sitting some of the stolen property was recovered and the case was put back for a week. At Dundalk District Court before Judge Nicola Andrews, a €1,000 recognizance with €500 cash lodgement was fixed in case of appeal. On 28 July 2025 he was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment, backdated to 1 April 2025, with the court noting his 92 previous convictions.
