Five men, all related through marriage, were arrested in Naas, Co. Meath, after a high-speed chase on 26 April in which a garda car was rammed and their Audi SQ5 crashed into a roundabout. The group, including 46-year-old William Connors and his 19-year-old son Larry Connors, were charged with handling stolen property, attempted burglary, and possession of articles for use in theft or burglary, with the stolen vehicle valued at €45,000. They appeared before Dublin District Court on 29 April 2022 and again at a contested bail hearing in Naas District Court on 22 September 2022, where all five were remanded in custody. On 12 October 2022, four of the five were granted bail in the High Court, while the group allegedly targeted elderly residents and members of the Asian community across Kildare, Cavan, Carlow, Louth, and Northern Ireland, obtaining €250,000 worth of jewellery in one burglary.
