  Kishor Karunakaran, a 44-year-old man, was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman on a Citylink bus from Galway to Dublin on 13 September 2024. At Dublin District Court on 6 March 2026, Judge John Hughes gave him a three-month suspended jail sentence, ordered €2,000 compensation and required him to complete a course for people convicted of sexual assault. On 17 April 2026, a graffiti and poster campaign was reported at his Fairfield Court home in Dublin 4, and Gardaí opened a criminal damage investigation. Sources say he has since travelled to Dubai, and his solicitor has said he intends to appeal the conviction.

  On 13 September 2024, a woman was touched on a Citylink bus to Dublin by Kishor Karunakaran, a 44-year-old Amazon software developer from Dublin 4. Her boyfriend called Store Street Garda station, and Garda Andrew Seaman approached Karunakaran at a stop in Dublin city centre. Karunakaran denied the allegation and said he was asleep for the entire journey. On 8 January 2026, Judge John Hughes at Dublin District Court found him guilty of sexually assaulting the woman and rejected his evidence. Sentencing has been adjourned until a date in March for a probation report, compensation proposals and a victim impact statement.
