Kirsty Cummins, a 20-year-old woman from Drimnagh, Dublin, was observed by gardaí entering a flat and emerging with a Tesco bag containing approximately €240,000 worth of cocaine and heroin. She pleaded guilty to possession of the narcotics for sale or supply and received a fully suspended four-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in June 2021. The Court of Appeal later ruled that sentence too lenient, and in December 2022 Ms Justice Aileen Donnelly again suspended her sentence while her co-accused received three years in prison. Cummins, a mother, avoided jail for a second time.
