Kim Ng Swan, a 59-year-old woman, pleaded guilty to careless driving causing the death of 36-year-old man Jose Eduardo Silba Pereira, a Deliveroo motorcyclist, at Kimmage Road West, Dublin, on 30 December 2021. Swan was turning right and did not see Pereira's motorbike, which was visible on dashcam footage for eight seconds before the collision on a wet, rainy evening. A forensic report found Pereira was travelling at about 80km/h in a 50km zone, while no external factors such as intoxication or distraction were found in Swan's case. At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, the judge adjourned sentencing to 1 December 2023 and remanded Swan on continuing bail.
