Kevin O'Connell, a 52-year-old man, was found with 1,732 grams of a green bud-like substance in the attic of his house in Patrickswell, Limerick, after gardaí searched it on 20 February 2025 following confidential information. He pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Court to sale and supply of drugs, simple possession, and sale or supply of drugs over €13,000 in value, and his defence said he had been minding the drugs for payment. Judge Colin Daly did not apply the 10-year presumptive minimum because his role was at a very low level, and in March 2026 gave him a three-year sentence fully suspended for three years, on condition that he keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Kevin O'Connell, a 51-year-old delivery driver from Castleconnell, County Limerick, was arrested after Gardaí seized cannabis with an estimated street value of over €45,000 from a box in the attic of his home on 21 February 2025. He told Gardaí he was under financial pressure and had agreed to store drugs on two occasions for €100 each. He pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court in February 2026 to possession of cannabis for sale or supply, simple possession of cannabis, and possession of drugs worth more than €13,000. Judge Colin Daly remanded him on continuing bail to appear for sentence in March.
