Kevin Nevin, 24, of Abbeyderg, Kenagh, was stopped by Garda Eamon Flanagan at Drinan, Ballymahon, at 10:50pm on 30 January 2020 after the garda heard a grinding noise from his vehicle. A roadside oral fluid test and a blood sample taken at Longford Garda Station both returned positive for cannabis, and Nevin admitted smoking a joint earlier that day and having no insurance. He contested the charge at Longford District Court, where it was noted he had no previous convictions and was the father of a five-month-old child. He was fined €400 for drug driving, disqualified for one year, and fined €250 for the no insurance charge.
