Kevin Mulcahy, a 64-year-old GP from Mallow, Co Cork, was struck off the medical register by the High Court in April 2022 after a Fitness to Practise Committee found professional misconduct. He was convicted in 2015 of indecent assault of a teenage patient in her own home, with allegations including exposing himself and kissing a 15-year-old girl in 1989 and engaging in sexual intercourse with her in 1992. The complainant's mother was very ill and died during that period, and the teenager said Mulcahy touched her inappropriately during an examination. Mulcahy denied the allegations in their entirety, and the High Court judge considered the sanctions proportionate given the breach of trust and the complainant's age.
