Kevin Meade, 29, of The Cross, Knocklong, was arrested on 9 June 2015 after Garda David Hennessy stopped his swerving car on the R515 at Ballinvana, Elton, Limerick. A blood sample tested positive for cannabis, and Meade pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of an intoxicant at Kilmallock Court. The State withdrew dangerous driving and failing-to-stop charges, and the defence argued the erratic driving was caused by a hypoglycaemic attack. Judge Harney disqualified Meade from driving for two years and fined him €500.
