  A fatal three-vehicle collision occurred at Ashtree Junction in Ballinasloe, County Galway, at approximately 6:30pm on Sunday 22 January 2023. Kevin Halpin, an Irish man in his 60s, was the driver of one vehicle and was taken to Portiuncula University Hospital where he died later that night. One other person was taken to hospital as a precaution, with no other injuries reported. Gardaí are investigating the crash, with Forensic Collision Investigators requested to attend the scene, and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from the Ashtree Junction and Station Road areas.
