Eamon Kelly, a 65-year-old father of nine, was shot four times in the back on 4 December 2012 at Furry Park Road, Killester, Dublin 5, as he walked towards his home. Sean Connolly, 35, was jailed for life by the Special Criminal Court in 2015 for the murder. Darren Murphy, 52, was convicted of the murder as the spotter and Kenneth Donohoe, 43, was acquitted of all charges by the Special Criminal Court on 15 November 2021. Murphy was sentenced to life imprisonment on 17 January 2022, backdated to 1 November 2021. The Court of Appeal dismissed Murphy's appeal in December 2023, and the Supreme Court declined leave to appeal on 7 May 2024.
