latest first- File sent to DPP in Cork fraud investigation Fraud · Co. Cork
An alleged fraud involving inflated invoices and pallet return payments at a Cork company, worth approximately €150,000, was uncovered during a routine accounts review. Sinn Féin TD Thomas Gould, a former logistics manager at the company, and Sinn Féin councillor Kenneth Collins, a former truck driver there, were both arrested and questioned by gardaí in connection with the alleged fraud, which is said to have occurred between 2014 and 2019. Collins was arrested by appointment at Togher Garda station on 3 January 2025 and Gould on 7 March 2025; both were released without charge after around 10 hours of questioning. Both men deny the allegations. Gardaí forwarded an almost 600-page file to the Director of Public Prosecutions earlier in 2026 after completing a near five-year investigation.
