Katrezyna Grabowska O'Brien, a 42-year-old Polish woman of Clondeglass, Lacca, Mountrath, Co Laois, admitted using a false proof of no claims bonus at her address on 2 August 2024. She had altered the document herself and used it when taking out an insurance policy on a Honda Civic with Liberty Insurance. The policy was reduced by €992 before the insurer requested proof, and the judge said the conduct was an attempt to defraud Liberty Insurance of €900. At Portlaoise District Court, reported in November 2024, her solicitor said she was pleading guilty to using a false instrument. The judge gave her until 26 June 2025 to pay €900 to the court poor box, after which the matter would be struck out.
