  A male member of a family was attacked with a machete at the Wetlands Halting Site on the outskirts of Kilkenny City at about 10pm on Thursday night, 29 October 2026, leaving two people in hospital. A man and a woman not before the court pulled a woman's hair out, and a person outside the home broke a front window with a hurl. John Paul 'Rocky' Carthy, Michael 'Ricky' Carthy, an unnamed man, and Kathleen Delaney were charged with offences including assault, violent disorder and causing criminal damage. On 3 November 2026, the three men were remanded in custody at Kilkenny District Court while Kathleen Delaney was granted bail with conditions, with the next hearing set for 10 November via video link.

  Kathleen Delaney, 51, a woman from Longford, is accused of stealing wine and gin worth €73.23 from Aldi on the Athlone Road on June 20, 2025, and previously pleaded guilty to assaulting a male security guard in Penney's and threatening behaviour in August 2022. The theft charge was adjourned for review on October 20, 2026, with Delaney remanded on continuing bail. On October 30, 2026, the judge applied Section 1(2) of the Probation Act, convicting Delaney of theft with no penalty imposed.

• Longford woman jailed for throwing vase at garda in Limerick Assault · Co. Limerick

  On 13 July 2025, Kathleen Delaney, a 51-year-old woman from Longford, threw a vase at a garda who had been called to an address in St Michael's Court, Watergate, Limerick, causing swelling and bleeding to his head. The garda went to UHL for treatment and declined to make a Victim Impact Statement. Delaney was convicted of assault by Judge Patricia Harney at Limerick District Court, where the defence said she did not intend to strike the garda, a claim the judge found hard to believe. She was sentenced to four months' imprisonment, backdated to 1 May 2025, as reported on 12 June 2026.

  Kathleen Delaney, 48, was charged with theft of groceries worth €75.50 from Dealz on October 5, 2022, and with assaulting Fergus Mooney at SuperValu Townspark Longford on February 5, 2022. She was before Judge Bernadette Owens at Longford District Court in September 2023, where she opted for a Circuit Court hearing. In February 2024, the judge registered a conviction for the theft and imposed four months in prison, suspended for 12 months. The assault charge is to be dealt with on June 11.
