Kasia Czernik, a woman, was sexually harassed by a series of texts, emails and attempted phone calls from senior newsroom colleague Noel Fogarty, a man, between June 18 and 21, 2021, at RTÉ in Dublin, ten days before her wedding. Fogarty was suspended pending investigation and sacked in September 2021 following a finding of sexual harassment, though Czernik was not made aware of the disciplinary proceedings. Czernik has since complained to the Workplace Relations Commission under the Employment Equality Act 1999, seeking €300,000 in compensation. Fogarty withdrew his Unfair Dismissals Act complaint challenging his sacking.
