On the morning of 17 December 2025, Julie Stokes, a 31-year-old woman, and her sister-in-law, whose name is not given, pulled each other's hair and tried to punch one another on Longford Town's Main Street. Julie Stokes was arrested by Sergeant Keogh and others and charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards her sister-in-law. At Longford District Court she pleaded guilty, and the court was told she had eleven previous convictions, eight for theft offences. The judge ordered her to pay €250 to Longford Community Resources by 21 April, and if she pays, Section 1 of the Probation Act would apply with no conviction recorded; this was reported on 19 February 2026, and that order is the latest reported development.
