In September 2018, Joshua Judge, a man from Garryowen, Limerick, sexually assaulted Tori Cahill, a 25-year-old woman, while she was sleeping during their two-year relationship. She reported the incident to gardaí in October 2018, and the case took five years to reach court. On July 7, 2023, at Limerick District Court, Judge pleaded guilty to sexual assault and was sentenced to three years in jail with one suspended by Judge Tom O'Donnell. Ms Cahill waived her anonymity and gave a victim impact statement, saying she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and still feels afraid. Judge is on the sex offenders register.
