Joshua Allen, 26, an MMA fighter and the son of celebrity chef Rachel Allen, is charged with nine offences allegedly committed on 27 October 2025 in the Shanagarry area of Co Cork, including failing to stop at a Garda checkpoint, driving at a garda at speed, dangerous driving, intoxicated driving with cocaine and cannabis, assaulting two gardaí, resisting a garda, unlawful possession of ketamine, and possession of a knife. He first appeared at Midleton District Court in November 2025 on a single dangerous driving charge, with the case adjourned for a file to be prepared for the DPP. In July 2026 he faced all nine charges and was remanded on bail, with the case adjourned due to solicitors withdrawing services over a new criminal legal aid payment system. On 17 September 2026 he was remanded on bail until 8 October 2026 to enter a signed plea or request a book of evidence, and Judge Colm Roberts marked the case peremptory against the defendant.

Joshua Allen, a 22-year-old man from Ballinamona, Shanagarry, Co Cork and son of chef Rachel Allen, was convicted of possessing €280 worth of cocaine at Pontoon, Midleton on 10 July 2020 after a garda spotted him throw an item into a bush at an outdoor gathering. The conviction triggered reactivation of a 15-month suspended portion of a 30-month sentence for possessing €22,000 worth of cannabis for sale or supply at Ballymaloe Cookery School on 30 August 2018. He was initially sentenced to two months at Midleton District Court, appealed the conviction, then withdrew the appeal and entered a guilty plea. At Cork Circuit Criminal Court on 1 July 2022, Judge Sarah Berkeley activated the suspended sentence and imposed 12 months in prison with the last five months suspended on conditions of good behaviour and compliance with probation and welfare service directions.
