  Josephine Maguire (55), a woman from Aughagreagh, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford, was found heavily intoxicated in the middle of a road at Moxham Street, Granard, after gardaí received a 9.20pm report that a female was in distress. When offered help she became abusive, threatened gardaí and wished death on their children, and she was arrested under Section 4 and Section 6 of the Public Order Act. She pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to two public order breaches, and Judge Vincent Deane imposed a two-month jail sentence suspended for one year, as reported on 28 June 2026.
