Joseph O'Brien, a 35-year-old man, pleaded guilty to three robberies in Dublin in 2019, including a street robbery on 21 January in which he struck a man twice with a glass bottle and kicked him 20 to 30 times, and two pharmacy robberies on 19 January and 23 April in which he threatened staff with a knife and a screwdriver. A woman also kicked the man two or three times during the street robbery. O'Brien, who has 56 previous convictions, was sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in April 2022 to seven years with two suspended, an effective five-year term. He has been in custody since March 2020.
