  Joseph Coyle, a 41-year-old from Castle Street, Ramelton, County Donegal, was detected in a garda sting in 2020, in which an undercover officer posed as a 12-year-old child, and was alleged to have committed offences between 10 and 16 November 2020. On 2 May 2024 he was formally arraigned at Letterkenny Circuit Court and pleaded guilty to two child sex offences, and the judge adjourned the case to October for reports. On 8 November 2024 he was sentenced at Letterkenny Circuit Court to four years on each count with the final two years suspended, reported as a two-year jail term, and he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register with two years of Probation Service supervision afterwards.
