On 1 January 2024 Jordan Byrne, a man reported as 25 in some articles and 24 in another, was arrested in Portlaoise, Laois, at about 3am after allegedly becoming highly intoxicated. He is alleged to have verbally abused groups of women at Market Square, Portlaoise, and then struck a garda in the face at Portlaoise Garda Station. He was charged with intoxicated threatening and abusive behaviour and with assault on a garda, and his case was reported in court on 8 March 2024 and adjourned to 13 May. In February 2025 he was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and a 12-month probation bond, which is the latest development.

On 24 December 2022, two men were arrested following a public order disturbance at Kyle Shopping Centre in Portlaoise, where one man was described as intoxicated and highly abusive among last-minute Christmas shoppers. Jordan Byrne, 23, of Portlaoise, admitted charges of intoxication in a public place and threatening and abusive behaviour at Portlaoise court on 13 January 2023. The case was adjourned to 6 July 2023 for a probation and welfare report.
