latest first- Man sentenced to 16 years for knife slash attacks in Dublin Intentionally causing serious harm · Co. Dublin
On the afternoon of 2 November 2023, Jonathan Cummins, a 38-year-old man, slashed the faces of a man and a woman at Wolfe Tone Square on Jervis Street and a woman at Moore Lane in Dublin city centre, leaving all three with slash wounds. A man and a woman were arrested nearby, and Cummins was found in possession of scissors. At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in November 2024, a jury found him guilty of intentionally causing serious harm to the man, assault causing harm to a woman, producing a knife in the course of an assault, and possessing scissors, while he had pleaded guilty before trial to intentionally causing serious harm to the Moore Lane woman. On 13 January 2025, Judge Elva Duffy sentenced him to 16 years' imprisonment, describing the offending as falling into the exceptional range.
