  A 32-year-old man, Jonas Lukauskas, was detected driving a red Hyundai Tucson at 136km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N4 at Doon, Boyle, Co Roscommon, on 24 June 2023. Gardaí stopped him and he produced a valid Irish driver's licence, but a fixed charge penalty notice issued after the stop was never paid. He did not appear at Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on 29 June, a hearing reported on 30 June 2025, and the case proceeded in his absence after the judge rejected his excuse of forgetting. He was convicted and fined €400 with six months to pay, with a €200 recognisance fixed in the event of an appeal, and that conviction and fine is the latest development.
