John Nevin, a man from Mullingar, Westmeath, pleaded guilty to theft of €60 worth of diesel from Spar in Knock, Lanesboro, County Longford, on 6 August 2024. Judge Owens described the offence as a drive off, and Nevin told the court he had been homeless and going through a bad patch at the time. Nevin was already serving a significant prison sentence for other matters when he appeared before a recent sitting of Longford District Court on a theft charge.
