latest first- Mother appeals for witnesses in unsolved 2006 Finglas double murder Murder · Co. Dublin
Anthony Campbell, 20, an apprentice plumber with no criminal connections, and Martin 'Marlo' Hyland, 39, a gang boss, were shot dead in a house in Finglas, North Dublin, at about 8.30am on 12 December 2006. Hyland was the intended target, asleep in an upstairs bedroom, while Campbell was working on a radiator downstairs. Twenty-one people were arrested but no one has been charged; crime reporter Paul Williams told a trial that Willie Hynes and John Mangan were allegedly responsible, with Mangan named as having killed Campbell and Eamonn 'The Don' Dunne as getaway driver. Hynes and Mangan were jailed in November 2009 for 12 and 14 years respectively over a separate cannabis resin seizure, and Mangan was released from Portlaoise Prison in 2024 after escaping custody in 2021. Campbell's mother Christine Campbell-Honan has written to the Garda Commissioner demanding the case be referred to the Serious Crime Review Team and has appealed for witnesses via RTÉ's Crimecall.

On 8 December 2002, a motorcyclist knocked Anthony Flemming, 48, down and fled after he had gone to an ATM near Hanlon's Corner, Dublin. A 2004 inquest found his death resulted from the hit-and-run, and a forensic test linked a bike helmet to John Mangan, 54, but gardaí said they did not have enough evidence to charge him. The case is now described as a cold case. In December 2023, Flemming's daughter Rose called on gardaí to investigate Mangan, who is due to be released from prison in March 2024.
