  John Kerry, 66, a man with an address at 48 O'Moore Place, Portlaoise, County Laois, was charged with public order offences and possession of cocaine for sale or supply. The charges allege that on April 17 at O'Moore Place he failed to comply with garda directions and behaved in a threatening and abusive manner, and that he had cocaine for sale or supply at his address on the same date. Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby sought directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions because the alleged value of the cocaine was €1,400. Judge Andrew Cody granted legal aid when the case first appeared in court, and the case was reported on 14 May 2023. The case was adjourned back to Portlaoise District Court on October 19.
