John Joyce (33) of Belcamp Crescent, Priorswood, Dublin 17, admitted theft from Aldi on the Dublin Road in Edenderry on 29 August 2022, and a plea of guilty to shoplifting was entered on 13 January. At Tullamore District Court, Judge Andrew Cody said Mr Joyce had lied to the court about his employment, and Sergeant Brendan Kearns said compensation had been paid. Mr Joyce, who has 89 previous convictions, was given a three-month prison sentence, reported on 21 February 2025, and recognisances for an appeal were fixed, including €500 cash.
