latest first- Appeal dismissed in Limerick murder case Murder · Co. Limerick
Shane Geoghegan, a 28-year-old man, was shot five times with a Glock semi-automatic pistol near his home at Clonmore, Kilteragh, Dooradoyle, Limerick on 9 November 2008 in a case of mistaken identity. Barry Doyle, a 38-year-old man, admitted during Garda interviews that he shot Geoghegan, and was found guilty by a jury at the Central Criminal Court and given a mandatory life sentence on 16 February 2012. John Dundon, a 41-year-old man, was convicted at the Special Criminal Court in 2013 of ordering the hit and is serving a life sentence. The Court of Appeal dismissed Dundon's appeal on 5 December 2024, rejecting his argument that a recorded prison phone call between two witnesses could have undermined their credibility.
