John Cross, 35, is accused of throwing sulphuric acid in the face of Ian Pickford, 24, an Irish former international pool player, during a house party at Cross's home in Garryowen, Limerick, in the early hours of 14 June 2020. Pickford suffered serious facial and chest injuries, including permanent scarring and damage to his eyesight. Cross pleaded not guilty to one count of intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm, and his trial began at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court on 26 November 2024 before Judge Colin Daly. The jury retired on 29 November and reported as undecided on 2 December 2024, when Judge Daly excused them and adjourned the case to a call-over in 2025, with Cross remanded on continuing bail.
